Silvia Furtwängler, (57). is a German sled dog driver (musher) and author.
She has been practicing sled dog sport for more than 30 years and participated at the Yukon Quest in 2001 and 2003. A year later, her book "Thousand Miles of Ice" was published.
2008 she set off in the footsteps of Roald Amundsen and crossed the Hardangervidda alone together with her sled dog team.
In 2014, she was the only Western European one who participated in the Volga Quest in Russia - and won.
Her book "Nordwärts" was published in 2015.
In 2016 she followed in the footsteps of Hannibal and his elephant and crossed the Alps together with her dog Bullet.
Her book "Hannibals Fährte" was published in 2017.
Her latest book - Mein größtes Rennen - was published in October 2019
Beside to her passion for photography, the urge to go out into nature developed more and more over the years.
Silvia emigrated to Norway in 2008, where she lives with her family in the middle of the wilderness, at the foot of Hardangervidda
